A day’s Worth Of Meals, 04.14.08
Well, tonight’s post is a little different than the normal ones because I’m putting all my meals and snacks into one post.
This morning, I started off really slow. I woke up feeling weird. For some odd reason I wasn’t able to feel my arms and chest. It might have been the dose of NyQuil I took last night (no pic) or it could be that my immune system is still out of whack.
BREAKFAST:
Bub baw with brown rice and tvp
Coffee
SNACKS:
Fresh Orange slices
I had a handful of crackers
I shared a bag of Target’s popcorn with Raspberry Iced Tea
A banana (or as I like to say it to Miss Dottie Ba-nAn-NaAAA!)
A Peanut butter and raspberry jam sammy cut up into quarters
Left over Pad see eew from last night
While I was in class tonight Long surprised me with flowers and a Nutella filled crepe from my favorite crepe shop in Berkeley, Crepes A go-go.
I think I’ll wait for the morning sun to show you a picture of the pretty flowers.
Later on in the day I started to feel more energized (less fatigued). I think it could be that my body is still recovering from being sick and from the lack of food this morning.
Note to self: remember to feed yourself when your body needs it.
I’m so glad that I don’t get sick often. As you can see, when I get sick I get messed up for quite a while.
DINNER:
Brussels sprouts and carrots
Lastly, something that we’ve never made before, Jambalaya!!! It’s a recipe from Jay Solomon’s book, 150 Vegan Favorites.
There were a few alterations made to his recipe because we didn’t have all of the ingredients. We also added okra. Mmmm slimy goodness.

I love cutting up my sandwiches in quarters too!

I’ve been eating tons of rice porridge because I had a stomach ache for several days. Nothing is more comforting.
The cookies I made were chocolate chip but I used rum extract instead of vanilla and oil instead of butter. They tasted best on the third day. Tonight I tried making spiced oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They are in the oven right now. For some reason baking is very calming and I always have people who are happy to eat cookies. The problem is I never think ahead so I just end up having to use whatever I have in the kitchen instead of optimal ingredients.

Mmm, that Peanut butter & raspberry jam sandwich, jambalaya, and brussels sprouts & carrots (my favorite!) all look especially delectable; and how BEYOND sweet of Long to surprise you with flowers and a Nutella-filled crepe!!
Yes, DEFINITELY follow your “note to self” – it’s crucial to still properly nourish yourself when you’re getting over an illness, since you’re body needs enough nutrients to heal. Glad you’re still feeling better! :0)

Romina:
haha that’s funny that you do that also. I find that cutting it up gives me an option to not eat the whole thing. I mean I could eat half, but there would be bite marks on them.
Valerie:
Stomach ache? that’s not good. Are you getting sick?
Rice porridge is the perfect “sick” food. This morning I woke up to the smell of rice in the air. Reminds me of when my dad would cook in the early AM before us kids left for school.
Jennifer:
Thanks for the concern! (hugs)
I’m back to goodness now
Betsy:
haha. I think I would do the same if I went to France. I imagine you were in Heaven every time! Nutella is a surefire way to get me happy.
Mariposa!!
Hi! I haven’t heard from you in so long! I’m so glad that I moved over to wordpress. It IS so much brighter!
And I’ll def. take the advice to take care of myself in order to avoid getting sick, AGAIN. It’s great to hear from you!
