Whew! The last two days has been sort of a whirlwind!
I had cut my pinky finger while attempting to carefully cut a bagel. I had put a bandaid on it in the hopes that it would stop bleeding.
Yesterday (A day later) it was still gushing with blood. This prompted me to head over to the emergency room to get treatment. After a long day at work and lack of sleep, I was not happy about going there again. Plus the fact that this was the second time in 2 months that I’d be visiting the emergency room was not very pleasing.
After a long wait, I finally got to see a doctor. He gave me 2 options:
1.) treat the cut with peroxide and wrap it up to let it heal
2.) get the wound cauterized to completely stop the bleeding
Can you guess which one I chose?
Yep, it was EXTREMELY painful! So now, I have a finger that has a black hole in it. yikes! I hope it heals okay.
_____________
I had to be up by 5 am this morning and after only 3 hours of sleep, I was exhausted!
Why did I get up so early you ask? I had a mini conference to get to by 8 am in Berkeley. Keep reading to find out more.
First up, here’s what I ate this morning.
Breakfast:
Cinnamon Raisin bagel with apricot and wild blueberry jam

Coffee, black

Lunch:
The conference was held by BADA (Bay Area Dietetic Association)

But before we headed into the conference we were fed.

My favorite of them all was not the quiche or bread, but the Yogurt! Straus donated all of the yogurt for the conference, and I could not have been more happier that they did. That Maple Whole Milk Yogurt was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I wanted to go back for more, but they had already closed up shop when I was done.

My plate clockwise, left to right:
Cantaloupe, strawberries, spinach quiche, almond butter (ooey gooey brown thingy you see there), breads (I ended up not eating), yogurt.

Topics were:
- Motivational Interviewing by Sarah Koszyk, MA, RD
- Health At Every Size by Joanne Ikeda, MA, RD
- FDA Labeling Laws by Janet McDonald, PhD, Ret. RD
- Biophotonic Scanning by Nancy Bennett, MS, RD, CDE & Tinrin Chew, RD, CSO
I need to rest up a bit, so I’ll go into more detail about each topic in a later post.
Just briefly though, I was excited about the Biophotonic Scanner. If you haven’t heard, of Biophotonic scanning, check out this video by Pharmanex and this clip from The Dr. Oz Show.
Check back later to find out my score.
After watching the videos, can you guess what I got? (for those who do not know my score)

On the ride home, I munched on Chocolates.

I had a lot of fun meeting and running into other nutrition professionals. Can’t wait for their next one!
