Strawberry Mango Smoothie

A while back I came across a nutritional analysis website where you enter in a recipes ingredients (food items & how much etc), but didn’t actually put it to use until this afternoon. I was just curious what my fruit smoothie really consisted of instead of just fruit, flax, and soy milk.

First here’s the recipe:

Strawberry-mango smoothie

Serves ~2 people (~10 oz each)

½ cup of frozen mango cubes

½ cup of frozen whole strawberries

1 small orange, including pulp and juice

½ cup of fresh orange juice

¾ cup of Silk Vanilla soymilk

1 T. of ground Flaxseed

And here are my findings:

Calories: 158

Total fat 3g

CHO 30g

Fiber 5g

Sugars 12g

Protein 4g

Vit A 18% Calcium 16%

Vit C 120% Iron 8%

XXX: good question. Usually Flaxseed is used as the substitution for items such as eggs, so that’s a good question. Hmmm, well honestly, if you don’t like/have flax seed, you can always omit it from the recipe. It won’t alter much, especially this recipe here. I only add it to get some omega-3s into my diet. I guess you could try crushed walnuts…as they are rich in omega-3s also. But, I’m not sure how that would turn out in this smoothie. Let me know if you try it out. It actually sounds like a good idea. haha. I hope I answered your question.
